About

Sarah Jefferson Carter

Sarah Jefferson Carter  is the Chief Creative Officer and cofounder of Rhythm & Noise Productions, a company devoted to crafting bold, imaginative stories that push boundaries and celebrate diverse voices. Working alongside her husband and creative partner, Justin Carter, Sarah brings a visionary approach to storytelling, creating fantasy, sci-fi, and historical drama to illuminate the richness and multidimensionality of black culture. Her feature film Of Thistles & Rye was a quarter-finalist in the prestigious Academy Nicholl Fellowships, and her short film Black Out showcased her commitment to creating powerful, captivating narratives. Through her art, Sarah strives to build immersive worlds — ones where women of color stand as full, three-dimensional characters — complex, flawed, and extraordinary — and where her vision offers audiences an unforgettable escape.
